Assessing variable amplitude multiaxial fatigue lifetime of notched components based on the notch critical plane approach

In the present paper, notch critical plane method proposed by authors is extended from 2D- to 3D-cases. The passing through assumed point and experiencing maximum variance of resolved shear stress defined as plane. linear-elastic fields around root are fitted via polynomial functions. relationship between distance, l, fatigue damage, Db, under variable amplitude loading blocks proposed. Susmel’s parameter a specific multiaxial cycle counting incorporrated into this approach estimate life. Numerous data generated testing five different notched metallic materials were collected literature check accuracy approach.
